Now true, pecan season has ended but if you go ahead and get one now, it means you will be on a more equal footing with the other obsessive/compulsive pecan gatherers. Ahem....I'm not naming names to protect the innocent but we all know who the obsessive/compulsive pecan picker uppers are. And we all know who started them on the path towards owning their own pecan picker uppers. Ahem.....
Here is the link to the one Lowe's has - Pecan Picker Upper. When you click
on the link you can see it is just like the one I have in this picture.

The first meeting will be next month with President Dalita presiding.
We will be talking on the six step program for beginnings. That is when you can walk six steps past what might look like pecan.on the ground.
Also, we can discuss the merits of pecans on desert or mixed with a salad. This is an advanced step for those willing to challenge themselves.
This meeting is not to be confused with NCA (Nut Crackers Anonymous.)
Laughing my butt off!
That is a good price. I found mine on amazon called a Ray Griffith Nut Gatherer and paid about $13.00. Shipping was free. For those who use firearms, these are also excellent at collecting your brass.
Pack-rat...I'm laughing my buns off also.
Here is a recipe for all those pecans everyone picked. I will be have some at the garden on Thursday.
Bits-O-Brickle Cookies 1 egg
1 6oz package (1 cup) Bits-O-Brickle 1/2 t salt
1 1/2 T liquid shortning
1/2 t baking soda
6 T flour, unsifted
11/2 cup + 2 T flour, unsifted
1/2 cup butter
1 cup pecans
6 T sugar
6 T brown sugar, packed
1/2 t vanilla
Preheat oven to 325 degrees. In a small bowl mix Bits-O-Brickle (add nuts)
with liquid shortning until evenly coated, then stir in 6T flour until well
coated. Set aside. In a large bowl, combine butter, sugar, brown sugar and
vanilla, beat until creamy. Beat in egg. Gradually add salt, baking soda,
flour, mix well. Stir in coated nuts and Bits-O-Brickle. Drop by rounded
teaspoon onto greased cookie sheets. Bake at 325 for 10 to 20 minutes.
Makes 50 2" cookies.
Be sure to get Bits-O Brickle by Heath, Publix sells them.
